I did not find anything of concern within the area that will be impacted by the new bridge. Based on the design I have received from David Petty, it looks like the replacement bridge will be located along the north/east side of the temporary bridge- about where the original bridge was located. He seems confident that the project will not impact the stone wall. I will send you an aerial photo showing the approximate locations of the things I would like for you to mark for avoidance just in case. We know there used to be two structures to the south and southwest of the bridge (shown on the topographic map). I was able to document (with notes and photos) several historic features in the valley to the south of the bridge. These include the stone wall, at least two collapsed structures, and old road system, and an old pond. There is a lot going on in that little valley and I would like to figure it out. I would like to do a bit of research, and also come back with one of my colleagues and a GPS unit when all of the leaves are down. Also, I will get some very detailed topographic (LiDAR) info that will show a lot of the historic features that I couldn’t see in the woods. I am not sure what you need from me at this point. Maybe I can do an initial No NRHP-Eligible Sites Present form with the information I have so far, and add my new info to it later. I hope to get back out there in mid-November.
