Signature: ✓" w O / ° Date: lVzf FORM: FTA 06-21 Page 5 of 5 Shaping Communities Together mC9III' TO: Mr. Dean Hunkele, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality FROM: Zachary Roman, Project Engineer DATE: October 14, 2021 RE: Permit No. WQ0039705 As -Built Calculations Mr. Hunkele, As indicated on the subject project's as -built drawing, sealed on July 14, 2021, the material and diameter of a portion of the public force main for the project were changed from the permitted values. Specifically, 130 linear feet of DR 9 HDPE force main was changed to 130 linear feet of SDR 21 PVC force main. The as -built conditions for the public portion of the project's force main are as follows: 503 linear feet of SDR 21 PVC. This change occurred due to a field adjustment of the installation method for the proposed 130 liner feet of DR 9 HDPE force main (direction drill to open trench). The subject project's design calculations, originally sealed on August 31, 2017, and revised on October 11, 2017, contained a system head calculation for the entire run of force main (including both the public and private portions). The pipe length value used in the calculation was 800 linear feet while the actual length shown on the design plans and installed was 653 linear feet. The value used in the calculation was about 22% greater than the actual amount of force main installed. Therefore, the total dynamic head calculated for the system includes a factor of safety due to the pipe length value. The change in force main material and diameter made in the subject project's construction phase would be captured by the originally included factor of safety; the original design calculations remain valid. Please review the system head calculation included with this memorandum. Do not hesitate to reach out to me if there are any questions. NICGILL ASSOCIATES 712 VILLAGE RD S'vV, SUITE 103. SHALLOTTE.
