Dear Natural Resource Professionals,
I write you today from the vantage point of a concerned citizen. To address a short-sighted project proposed near
the banks of the gorgeous Eno River. Many are the days I have spent hiking on the Eno and its one of favorite
place to hike in the Fall in NC. An oasis in a modern desert of concrete and steel, sweltering asphalt and noise of
every make and fashion, non of it pleasant sounding. On the Eno there is peace, the trees creak as they sway in
the wind of the river babbles by as it has done for thousands of years. The Eno is more than a place on a map,
an area near a city that people can escape to. The Eno River is a valuable natural resource and this project is an
extreme detriment to the river system. At a time in our history, when it has been proven beyond a shadow of a
doubt that the inactions of the last 50-70 years and our expanding population have led to irrevocable damage to
our Planet, our spaceship in a cold and desolate universe.
At this time, now, we should be discussing how we can add this area to the public lands, preserve for perpetuity,
not how to allow greedy developers to rape it. You as the water conservation district have a responsibility to all
the citizens of not only Durham, NC and the US, but the World to reject this proposed development. The time
has come, now, to say enough is enough and protect this valuable ecosystem.
