Comment I am against the development because I feel there is insufficient buffers to protect the Eno River. The development will be creating a significant amount of impervious surfaces causing greater volumes of water to flow into the river in a shorter amount of time. The faster runoff will carry silt and debris along with pollutants from the roadways and driveways serving the development. The Durham community is already committed to spending a great deal of moneys on reducing pollutants entering South Ellerbe Creek prior to its eventual discharge into Falls Lake. This development will produce the same types of pollutants entering Falls Lake now carried by Ellerbe Creek and it is easy to envision some significant and costly reductions being forced upon the City and County of Durham in the near future.
