Westpoint on the Eno is a unique park to have in a city, and Durham is fortunate to have it. In light of the park's
special value for citizens as a recreational area and as a contributor to the drinking water supplies, as well as the
habitat the park provides for wildlife, the 2012 vote by the city council to allow only low density development in
the adjacent tract now under consideration for the construction of town homes seems highly appropriate. I would
like to request that a special permit be required for the development and that the appropriate agencies be given
a mandate to more thoroughly investigate the project before construction is allowed to commence.
