I am writing to express my strong opposition to the Westpoint development project and the wholly inadequate
permit application.
I have been a Durham resident for more than 40 years and over that period have been a very frequent user of
the West Point on Eno Park. The residential development as proposed is totally out of character for the area and
I believe represents an unacceptable threat to one of Durham's most important, beloved natural and historic
treasures.
As described in detail by the "Save Black Meadow Ridge" group, the project poses substantial potential risks in
multiple areas, including to our drinking water supply, endangered species of river fauna, the historic mill, and
public enjoyment of the park as it is now experienced. The sheer diversity and magnitude of these negative
impacts deserves far greater scrutiny and oversight as part of the permitting process.
