I am opposed to the Westpoint development and their permit application. I do not think the assessments reflect
the true picture of the development's impacts and the impacts from the 401 Individual Clean Water Act Permit
disturbances. I do not think this project or specific permit is in the Public Interest of Durham residents or the
environment- and I believe a Public Hearing should be required for this development.
I cannot in any way support the destruction of a beloved and environmentally/historically important natural park
for the sake of building new expensive housing developments, and especially now, with climate change being a
primary global concern of the utmost importance. Not only would this development be completely and utterly
environmentally disastrous, on top of it all, it would be yet another manifestation of gentrification that is already
negatively impacting the lives and livelihoods of long-time Durham residents.
