I am opposed to the Westpoint development and their permit application.
My young family and I go regularly to the area of the Eno that has had trees removed. The area will be in more
demand for outside recreational use due to the growing Durham young population and their children. Now is the
time to preserve natural green spaces, not tomorrow when it is too late.
I do not think the assessments reflect the true picture of the development's impacts and the impacts from the 401
Individual Clean Water Act Permit disturbances. This is for sure. The clearing of trees already is a negative
impact. Not only be of the loss of nature, but also the development will increase near the Eno extensive
impervious areas, i.e. a flood hazard for Durham.
I do not think this project or specific permit is in the Public Interest of Durham residents or the environment- and I
believe a Public Hearing should be required for this development.
This is a project that should be deemed to have a significant public Impact and likely needs greater oversight
through a different permit type and higher level of review.
