Hello Ms. Georgoulias, On behalf of Waste Connections of the Carolinas, I am submitted the attached Tier Three status notification for Queen City Transfer Station located in Mecklenburg County for Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) analytical results above benchmark values on four consecutive occurrences. Ongoing facility inspections and corrective action/preventative measures are being conducted on a continual basis and stormwater sampling is being completed on a monthly basis. You were listed as the stormwater engineer on the COC, if there is somebody else we should send this notification to please let us know. October 27, 2021 Ms. Bethany Georgoulias North Carolina DEQ Mooresville Regional Office 610 East Center Avenue Suite 301 Mooresville, NC 28115 Re: Waste Connections of the Carolinas Queen City Transfer Station Certificate of Coverage: NCG130079 Mecklenburg County Dear Ms. Georgoulias: In accordance with North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ), Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources (DEMLR) General Permit Number NCG130000, Waste Connections of the Carolinas (Waste Connections) is submitting this letter to notify the NCDEQ DEMLR Regional Engineer of Waste Connections Queen City Transfer Station's Tier Three status for stormwater sampling. Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) analytical results have been received above the benchmark value of 120 mg/L on four (4) consecutive months (June - September 2021). Ongoing facility inspections and corrective action/preventative measures are being conducted on a continual basis and stormwater sampling is being completed on a monthly basis. Waste Connections is documenting monthly inspection and corrective actions, including actions taken to address benchmark exceedances, in a stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) logbook maintained on -site.
