Imagine Durham in 20 years if we let development like the kind proposed at Westpoint go unchecked. The
natural habitats that thrive in and around our city will be decimated, we will have less tree cover which leads to
human health concerns which will only be exacerbated by climate change. We only have one chance to protect
this area, once it is decimated, not only will it be destroyed, but this development will welcome more like it.
I do not want a hot, paved over, semi destroyed natural landscape instead of the currently vibrant and beautiful
areas of this city.
Supporting this plan is to support a reckless, careless, and heartless destruction of the natural world to allow for
profit and destruction.
In case you hadnt noticed, we are headed directly into a climate crisis worse than we have imagined (based on
updated predictions).
Why would you ever support a project with so little care for the future of the human and non -human world?
I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PROJECT. Our city needs to do everything we can to be mindful and
intentional as we can, and look at the long -game here, not just this immediate project.
Stop this development, please. We are counting on you.
