I am directly opposed to this project. I do not believe that the permits were correctly applied for nor was the
correct permit issued. The impact that this development has on the environment, Durham county, and residents
access and use of natural resources is a weighty issue that hasn't even been brought to a public comment
session, and this is an egregious steam -rolling of due process. I also take issue with the fact that:
The application omits how the development has negative impacts on water quality, specifically Durham's drinking
water;
The application ignores public safety concerns about direct human contact with water/runoff from the
development;
The application contains incomplete, conflicting, and/or incorrect information;
The application omits how the development negatively impacts threatened and endangered species and their
habitat;
The application does not account for how the development negatively impacts historic sites;
And, the wrong Permit type was issued, based on impacts, public Interest, and appreciable opposition.
The Westpoint development project must be brought to a halt until such a time as proper environmental impact
studies can be done, the correct permits applied for, and the residents of Durham county are allowed to speak on
behalf of their natural resources.
