I've lived minutes from the Eno River for most of my life. It's very special and important to my family and me.
Without the Eno being so close -by, my kids would never have the love for nature that they do. It's a huge part of
what makes Durham special. Especially these days, with so much stress in the world -- to have a beautiful state
park right down the road can be a literal lifesaver.
If this proposed project is allowed to go through, it will be absolutely devastating to the river. I'm not a geologist
or environmental scientist -- but you don't have to be to realize that. I've read the effects it will have on wildlife
and the water. Do we really want to risk the river for some townhomes? To me that is simply greed. It lacks
foresight. It lacks heart.
And to cut down 60 acres of trees, when we need to be doing everything we can to prevent further effects of
climate change? It's really shameful. The thought of it makes me sad for my kids, and my future grandkids.
Please do not allow this to happen.
North Durham doesn't need more cheaply -built townhomes to make our traffic more congested. What we need is
this river. We need it to be healthy, so that generations of North Carolinians can continue to enjoy its beauty. To
learn from it. To heal from it. Don't take that away from us.
