I am strongly opposed to the "Westpoint" development as proposed; therefore, I believe permit application
#20210224 should not be granted. I do not think this project (or permit) is in the interest of current or future
Durham residents or the environment; I believe a Public Hearing should be required before allowing this
development or any other development impacting Eno River State Park's environment, including impacts on
water quality and public use. The NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources celebrated Eno River State
Park as one of seven state parks that welcomed more than one million visitors in 2020.E Governor Cooper stated
that increased park visitation shows "that our outdoor spaces hold even greater value than we could have
imagined before the challenges of the last year."* I do not believe the permit applicants appreciate how
committed Durham residents are to protecting Eno River State Park's natural environment and history. A Public
Hearing could help educate them, and any future permit application could take better care to address these
urgent concerns.
