This project should be allowed as long as storm water runoff is properly mitigated per city and state rules.
Durham has a housing shortage that is driving up costs for all homeowners. That housing shortage cannot be
met by continuing to build urban sprawl: big houses on half acre lots. Building with greater density like this,
combined with appropriate storm water controls, is the best option for Durham. A traditional suburban
development with 1/2 or 1/4 acre lots would be just as destructive to the environment without the benefit of
greater density - more transit -friendly homes in Durham means less demand for homes in farther flung areas
with longer commute times and greater environmental impact..
