Comment
I do not agree with the approach taken towards this project thus far, from an environmental and traffic standpoint.
I will highlight some of those reasons below in my comments. My hope is that the developer will take these
concerns seriously.
1. Lack of public input: It appears that this is a project that is moving swiftly and as a resident of North Durham I
have not received any notification of this project nor have my neighbors. It is concerning the lack of public input
and lack of contact of residents that already live here.
2. Destruction of Animal Habitat: The Eno serves as many things to both animals and people. For animals it is a
habitat that will be greatly compromised through this development. Many people and families enjoy visiting the
Eno due to the plant life and animals, such as deer, rabbits and birds, they see along the trail. I am concerned
that this development does not consider the impacts on land and water species. In addition their are many native
plant species along the Eno that should be protected.
3. Compromises to Drinking water: The Eno serves as a watershed and drinking water source for people. This
project proposes 400 condominiums, densely concentrated on the land. I am concerned about the amount of
impervious surface that this project will bring, which will affect the amount of run off to the Eno and also affect
storm water and sewer loads. Again this will affect both Humans and species who call the Eno home.
4. Increased Traffic: This development sits quite close to the New site of Northern High School, which also will be
a large source of some of my same concerns mentioned above (increased impervious surface, destruction of
habitat, etc.) The amount of Traffic that will occur in this area will increase due to the new placement of the high
school. This project will also make this same area even more congested. The Roxboro corridor already
experiences congestion with out the presence of either of these projects - Westpoint or Northern High School. I
am concerned the traffic this project will additionally contribute is of great concern to traffic patterns, for those
traveling to Person County and North Durham.
In summary, please keep the Eno a place for all people and living things. Please consider my concerns of how
this project will impact the environment and those who currently live here in North Durham.
