I am opposed to the Westpoint development project and its permit application. The potential risks this project
poses to Durham's drinking water quality and wildlife far outweighs the small benefits it generates, which will
mostly be in the hands of developers who already have had a detrimental impact on the Durham landscape and
ecosystems, and will do little if anything positive to help struggling renters like myself.
Projects like these only serve to increase the cost of living for average Durham residents, in addition to their
ecological and public health risks. This project is yet another example of giveaways to rich developers, and the
subterfuge with which the process has been conducted so far demonstrates at best a failure of Durham's public
servants to serve the best interests of residents. I demand a public hearing on this project to consider its
potential adverse water quality impacts.
