Subject: Sludge Transfer from the Town of Fair Bluff
Columbus County
Dear Ms. Tatum,

Recently, the Town of Fair Bluff was given temporary permission to haul up to 100,000 gallons/year of
digested sludge to the Town of Fairmont's wastewater plant (discharge into the plant headworks). You
have probably received the approval letter by now. I am currently working on the long range plan for
sludge transfers (via renewal/modification of Fair Bluff's sludge permit). One of the conditions of the
sludge transfer activity, as requested from the Division's Fayetteville Regional Office, was to require the
Town of Fairmont to maintain records on the sludge transfer activity. I failed to request Fairmont to
perform the monitoring activity. It is requested that the Town of Fairmont maintain records concerning the
sludge transfers. The records keeping should include 1) receiving date of sludge transfer and sludge
volume input into the Fairmont plant. For the purpose of this records keeping activity request, records
entry into the daily wastewater plant log book would suffice.
If you have questions concerning this letter, please feel free to contact me at (910) 395-3900.
Sincerely,
m Bushardt, P.E.
