My objections to this particular development are based less on specific knowledge of how it will impact the area
in which it is to be built -- I am responding as a long-time resident of Durham because I have serious concerns
about our city and its outskirts being aggressively over -developed, in the name of progress --- and revenues.
This ramped up development is quickly eroding the character of our city and countryside. A development the size
of Westpoint cannot help but create problems for the environment of the Eno. Why is it even necessary? I ask
myself this every time I drive past a monstrous development where there used to be woods or fields. In -town
development, while it has also become excessive, at least does not destroy natural habitats to the extent that the
outlying developments, which then require additional roads and shopping centers, do.
