I am writing in opposition to the Westpoint development as well as their permit application and I strongly believe
a Public Hearing and higher level of review should be required for this development. I want to ensure proper
research and input is done to ensure it is in line with what is best for Durham people and the environment.
As a Social Work student I understand the importance of environmental justice and equitable development. I
would hope that primary stakeholders (residents of that neighborhood) had their voices heard and that higher
level review and experts in the various fields would be called upon to look into: water quality and runoff issues
and concerns, completion and accuracy of their application information and classification, impact on plant and
animal life and habitat, and historical justice concerns
