This parcel is next to protected land along the Eno River, a source for drinking water and regularly used for
recreation, including swimming. Citizens have worked since 1960s to acquire land along the river to protect it.
We also have worked to have only low density development just outside the 1 mile buffer. This parcel has natural
buffer terrain that would be flattened by this dense developmet. The only way they are getting to even be
considered is due to a zoning map omission that did not carry over water protection zone to part of this
development land from one part of city govt plan to another. This plan needs to have the strongest possible
protection and review. This parcel should be developed only in a careful, low -density, non-invasive and protected
manner, consistant with Durham water management plans.
