Sullins, Director Division of Water Quality December 20, 2007 Blake Proctor, Town Manager Town of Fairmont PO Box 248 Fairmont NC 283400248 SUBJECT: November 21, 2007 Compliance Evaluation Inspection Town of Fairmont Fairmont Regional WWTP Permit No: NC0086550 Robeson County Dear Mr. Proctor: Enclosed please find a copy of the Compliance Evaluation Inspection form from the inspection conducted on November 21, 2007. The Compliance Evaluation Inspection was conducted by Mark Brantley, Environmental Chemist, and Don Register, WWTP Consultant, of the Fayetteville Regional Office. The cooperation of Mr. Johnny Britt, facility's ORC, was greatly appreciated. The facility was found to be in Compliance with permit NC0086550. As a reminder; preservation of the Waters of the State can only be achieved through consistent NPDES Permit compliance. Comments • The facility appeared to be clean and neat in appearance at the time of the inspection. • If you have not already done so please repair or replace the trash dumpster at the bar screen because wastewater is leaking out of the dumpster and is ponding on the ground. Please clean the thickner as it appeared to be nasty and had some vegetation growing in parts of the unit. Please follow all safety measures when cleaning treatment units. It was also noted during the inspection that the center well of the clarifier had a build up of solids that needed to be removed. • The DMR's for the months of March and August 2007 were compared to laboratory bench sheets and appeared to be in order. Please refer to the enclosed inspection report for additional observations and comments. If you or your staff have any questions, please call me at 910-433-3300 ext.727.
