As a resident of Durham, I am concerned about the effects of this project on the Durham community. I am
concerned about possible water quality effects with runoff from the project to Eno tributaries where city residents
recreate during the summer. I was also here in 2007-8 when the quarry was used as an emergency water
supply, and am concerned about negative effects on the quarry that would prevent it from being incorporated into
the city's long-term water plans. It is especially important that we plan for resilience with the coming effects of
climate change and the increased likelihood of extreme weather like droughts and flooding.
I believe, as concerned citizen groups have pointed out, that this project needs a different permit type with more
oversight.
