Please pick the response below that represents your stance on the above mentioned project?* Yes - I agree with the project. No - I do not agree with the project. Comment I am in opposition to the proposed development at West Point on the Eno River. Natural spaces are more valuable now that ever. The sixty acres of forest that will be cleared are sixty acres less of available habitat for wildlife, and disturb the water quality of the adjacent Eno River. Removal of trees and installation of impermeable surfaces (pavement, etc) leads to increased erosion and runoff of harmful compounds from developed areas. Sediments and harmful compounds are then carried into the waterway, where they harm wildlife and negatively impact the quality of drinking water, especially given that Durham sources it's drinking water from surface water. These reasons, as well as those shared by the save Black Meadow Ridge Group, provide great evidence regarding why the proposed construction is not in the interest of Durham residents. There should be a public hearing required before moving forward, and a higher level of review regarding how this project will impact the ecosystem and Durham residents.
