He has contacted TBL Lumberton and has taken some grab samples to the lab to try to identify the source of the odor. He said the odor was not sweet, chemical or petroleum in nature. What they know: pH is 6.5 No visible sheen or foam No identifiable odor Suggested that they do the following: Conductivity Aeration basin DO Oxygen uptake rate COD (BOD will take to long) Look at the bugs under a microscope Go to all the pump stations to see if there is evidence of a dumping (including the outlying communities) (he said he did that yesterday afternoon, I suggested a second visit) I asked Johnny to report to us any changes in the plant immediately and to call the FRO tomorrow (2/10) with a report even if nothing has changed. I have placed a copy of this email in the Fairmont Inspections file. Paul E. Rawls NCDENR-DWQ Fayetteville Regional Office 1
