I am strongly opposed to the Westpoint development and their permit application. I have lived in the area for over
a decade, and my son has grown to appreciate the natural world through countless hours of time in the West
Point on the Eno park and forest. This is a part of Durham that is very dear to my family.
The proposed Westpoint development and the impacts from the 401 Individual Clean Water Act Permit
disturbances would likely have devastating effects on the adjacent Eno forest, its wildlife, and Durham's drinking
water. The proposed development is not in the public Interest of Durham residents or the environment and I
implore you to reject the developer's application, which I believe misrepresents the likely impacts on the
environment and the quality of life of Durham's citizens.
At the very least, a proposal of this significance should require a public hearing. The proposed project would
have such significant public impact that it warrants greater oversight through a different permit type and higher
level of review.
I share many of the concerns of the the Save Black Meadow Ridge group. I believe that the points this group
raises deserve a much more thorough investigation and a response.
