I live in the Old Farm neighborhood across the street from West point on the Eno park. I often visit this park with
my kids and dog and care deeply about the health of the river. I have seen the health of the river decline over the
years as it becomes more polluted and the water level rises due to the effects of climate change. I have also
seen the yards of my neighbors and nearby roads flooded during intense rain events such as hurricanes or
tropical storms. For my neighbors in Old farm this flooding is directly connected to the Eno river being behind
their houses. If the westpoint development is built next to the Eno river and park, these issues with river health
and water level will only get worse. Run off of rain and pollutants from the development will all end up in the Eno.
Erosion will increase in the park, water levels will rise and flooding in surrounding areas will increase. Not to
mention destroying the habitat of animals that have been protected. These animals will move into our
neighborhoods or die. Please find another site with less impact on the Eno River, an important resource for
Durham. Thank you!
