I'm opposed to the Westpoint development and their permit application. The Eno River is a delicate ecosystem,
and it sounds like the developer's application is misleading about the impact of their plans and intentions.
From what I've read, it sounds like the impacts from the 401 Individual Clean Water Act Permit need to be
considered very carefully (and this development certainly sounds like it could do substantial harm). I understand
that new housing is a necessary part of the growth of Durham (and I'm excited about that growth --it's a fantastic
city and it makes sense that more people would want to live there) but this particular project needs a lot more
vetting because it seems very contrary to the public interest of Durham residents and the environment. I agree
with others that a Public Hearing should be required for this development.
