I am opposed to the Westpoint development and their permit application. As a resident of a home on the border
of this development, I can attest to the fact that lots in this area are impacted by water runoff from the hills to
surrounding us. The trees on the land behind our house do help somewhat to prevent further runoff from entering
our yard. This development will remove those trees and introduce impervious surfaces that will cause much
greater quantities of runoff to accumulate on our property. We have already had our lot re -graded twice and a
French drain installed, but we continue to have standing water.
We installed a fence with concrete around all the fence posts. All of the the soil around the concrete on that
hillside has eroded away. This project and the request to bypass Clean Water regulations is not the Public
Interest of Durham residents or the environment. The least you can do is require a public hearing for this
development. We have paid taxes in Durham since 2005, and deserve to have our concerns heard. No
developer should be allowed to sidestep the concerns of a city's citizens.
Save Black Meadow Ridge has raised many valid concerns that I share, and each point being raised by this
group deserves more thorough investigation. Once this land is gone, once this habitat is lost, it Is never coming
back. The intelligent, responsible choice is to step back and give our concerns serious consideration.
