I think the planned development is absurd.
I just walked to my mailbox and heard chainsaws cutting down trees. The land is question although not legally
part of West Point on the Eno is ecologically tied to it and the existing communities in the surrounding area. I
frequently go hiking in the area with my young children and can think of no worse thing then a high density
subdivision placed on the land.
I am opposed to the Westpoint development and their permit application. The assessments DOES NOT reflect
the true picture of the development's impacts and the impacts from the 401 Individual Clean Water Act Permit
disturbances. I do not think this project or specific permit is in the Public Interest of Durham residents or the
environment
A Public Hearing MUST be required for this development!!!
The Save Black Meadow Ridge group has raised many concerns that I share, and each point being raised by
this group needs more thorough investigation, and I DEMAND a response that reflects the vetting of those
concerns.
This is a project that should be deemed to have a significant NEGATIVE public Impact and likely needs greater
oversight through a different permit type and higher level of review.
I OPPSE the Westpoint development and their Permit application for the following reasons.
• The application omits how the development has negative impacts on water quality, specifically Durham's
drinking water
• The application ignores public safety concerns about direct human contact with water/runoff from the
development
• The application contains incomplete, conflicting, and/or incorrect information
• The application omits how the development negatively impacts threatened and endangered species and their
habitat
• The application does not account for how the development negatively impacts historic sites
• Wrong Permit type - based on impacts, public Interest, and appreciable opposition
Due to the above reasons I believe the permit type the Westpoint developer applied for needs review from the
US Army Corps of Engineers, along with additional oversight and impact assessments.
I DEMAND a public hearing from the Division of Water Resources per code: 15A NCAC .02H .0503
