I am shocked to learn the shortsightedness of The City of Durham that allows development around West Point
on the Eno. At this point, a city growing at the rate Durham is, with our taxes skyrocketing should be assessing
its own water quality and green spaces and taking measures to protect them. We celebrated many of our
daughters birthdays in the shelter out there, go there many weekend hikes, and wade in the water it is a
treasure! If anything, it should be expanding.
The city needs to look at its parks and take measures to preserve and expand them. When we see this, it seems
you take your citizens for granted that live here, renovated downtown property, improved neighborhoods and
enjoy the beautiful green space around us. The Eno is a sanctuary that creates wildlife habitats and wonderful
green and quiet spaces for our Citizens to enjoy. All that runoff will poison the waters.
I was also shocked to see a development across the street where all the trees were removed on a large tract of
land. Durham, please get a hold of yourself because the reasons we moved here are going away which makes
us want to live elsewhere. We do support affordable housing but not at the loss of green space!
