After further review and discussion with Alan Johnson at the Mooresville Regional Office regarding your projects and
similar projects that we have issued, the proposed impacts landward from normal pool (above normal pool) should only
be 3 to 4 ft. as measured horizontally for both sites. Also, it is our expectation that you can work around the existing
trees to install the riprap. Some minimal sloping and grading is allowed on the immediate shoreline but the only
allowable tree removal should be the ones that are undermined from erosion or that are leaning.
Also, as you have described in your application, the access and construction corridor shall not exceed 10 ft. in width and
shall be restored to its original condition prior to the project. You described to me that this will be accomplished by the
installation of much which is fine.
If you disagree or would like to provide more information, please let me know so I can put the projects on hold until we
get more information. Otherwise, I will issue as proposed above.
Thank you,
Shelton Sullivan

There are no trees to be removed? These lots are already thinned. This is the same way we have done the last 20
shorelines? The only buffer impacts are 10 ft along shoreline

So the 10 ft. is including the access corridor area to construct the wall?
The permanent impacts, excluding access corridor, amount above normal pool, should be less than 10 ft.
wide. Please list the permanent impact amounts.
In the 10ft. proposed work area, are trees proposed to be removed? Only trees along the immediate shoreline,
within 3 ft., that are compromised by erosion or are leaning, are allowed to be removed.
You can submit you modification to me this week via pdf email this week if you wish. If not, I can send a letter
requesting this information.
