Mitch — Sorry about the mix up regarding the start time for the meeting with Cleveland County. I apologize for that.
The meeting went very well, in my opinion. We had a very honest and open discussion regarding the future of the reservoir
project between the Dept, the Corps, and Cleveland County. Butch Smith from Cleveland County fully understands the uphill
battle that he is facing in order to receive federal approval to build the reservoir. It was pretty clearly spelled out the
challenges that he faces in convincing the Corps that the reservoir is necessary. Butch still wants to move forward with the
project. For our part, I am happy to assist and facilitate in the process any way that I can, but there is little that the Dept can
do to sway the Corps in its final decision. The next step will be a meeting with the consultants, the Corps, and the County to
re -start the EIS process. That meeting will be here in Raleigh and I plan to attend. Just let me know if you have any
