On September 30, 2021, Alex Lowe of the WSRO conducted an unannounced compliance inspection
at 187 Glen Meadow Drive in Rockingham County. Mr. Emmett Rogers agreed to a brief questioning
and to show Lowe the location of his chlorine tubes and effluent outfall.
Lowe confirmed with Mr. Rogers that the chlorine tablets were wastewater grade, and were present in
the contact tubes at the time of inspection. Mr. Rogers stated that the system is pumped
approximately every three years through Billlingsley Septic in Reidsville.
Mr. Rogers stated that he had not completed annual sampling, and was unaware of the requirement
to do so. Lowe offered to provide information on testing requirements and available third -party labs
with the inspection report.
No discharge was observed at the time of visit. The receiving waters were relatively clear, and aquatic
life was observed in and around the water.
Lowe had trouble reaching the permittee (had left a voicemail on 09/21/2021), but Mr. Rogers
confirmed that he had received the call but disregarded it because he suspected it to be spam.
Phone on file is accurate.
The system appeared to be well -operated and maintained. To achieve full compliance, Mr. Rogers
should conduct annual sampling of effluent waters.
