I am opposed to the Westpoint development and their permit application.
Since we moved to Durham in 2013, we've often enjoyed the Westpoint on the Eno park. It's a special, beautiful
place, an immersion in our area's past history and environment. I've often wondered at the feeling of peace and
wild left there. Climbing up that first hill beyond the dam, you could be somewhere else entirely. The words of
Hopkins' "Inversnaid" come to me:
What would the world be, once bereft
Of wet and of wildness? Let them be left,
O let them be left, wildness and wet;
Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.
I support the Save Black Meadow Ridge petition and I believe their points need thorough investigation.
