I attended some of the original meetings more than two years ago about this planned development. I go to the
west point on the Eno regularly. Growing up in Wisconsin and then living in Ohio and then living in
Massachusetts and also living in Virginia - I have been really impressed with the wetlands protection in Durham
and Central North Carolina particularly the Eno River water system. Durham is growing uncontrollably and
although this is inevitable, it does not have to be to the detriment of some of our most treasured wild places.)
have brought visitors from out of state, including from the incredible state of Colorado, where there are lots and
lots of wild places, and these visitors could not believe that this magnificent wild place was in the middle of
Durham.
This project threatens that water system and wild place. It threatens the ecological balance of the Eno River by
overburdening the surrounding areas with too many inhabitants, too much waste water, too much traffic, and too
much disruption and forest removal. It is just not the place to put so many apartments in such high density. There
should be a strict review of the impact this project it others will have on the West Point on the Eno before any
project like this begins. This is just wrong. Money should not control every decision.
Sometimes it's OK to deny development. I'm not anti -development but a free-for-all based on money is wrong.
Please reconsider this proposed development and deny this permit for this project.
