Sullins, Director Division of Water Quality January 24, 2008 City of Pembroke Attn: McDuffie Cummings, Town Manager P.O. Box 866 Pembroke, N.0 28372 SUBJECT: January. 16, 2008 Compliance Evaluation Inspection Town of Pembroke WWTP Permit No: NC0027103. Robeson County DearMr. Cummings: Enclosed please find a copy of the Compliance Evaluation Inspection form from the inspection conducted on January 16, 2008. The Compliance Evaluation Inspection was conducted by Mark Brantley, Environmental Chemist, of the Fayetteville Regional Office. The cooperation of Rhonda Locklear, Grade IV ORC, and Jerry. Brooks, Back-up ORC, was greatly appreciated. The facility was found to be in Compliance with permit NC0027103. As a reminder, preservation of the Waters of the State can only be achieved through consistent NPDES Permit compliance. COMMENTS • The WWTP was clean and neat in appearance at the time of the. inspection. • The Division of Water Quality encourages the Town of Pembroke to move the influent control panel away from the influent wet well. By relocating the control panel, the Town couldprotect the panel from corrosive fumes from the wet well. The corrosive fumes can damage the electrical circuits, which could cause pump failures that could result in violations of the facility's NPDES permit. Please consider relocating this structure to a safer place as this could also help avoid costly repairs in the future. Please refer to the enclosed inspection report for additional observations and comments. If you or your staff have any questions, please call me at 910-433-3327.
