According to the 2010 Neuse River Basin Restoration Priority Plan (RBRP) assets in these CU include large forested tracts and conservation areas. However, there are areas with no riparian buffers. Other problems are associated with agricultural impacts such as nonpoint source runoff and hydrological modification. The RBRP lists as a top priority the reestab The Stallings Buffer Restoration Project was identified as a buffer restoration opportunity to improve water. The project goals address stressors identified in the CU and include the following: Provide improved water quality by reducing nutrient and sediment loads to receiving waters Improve terrestrial and aquatic habitat in the Flat Swamp Watershed The project goals will be addressed through the following project objectives: Plant native woody species on 31.6 acres of riparian buffers at a sufficient density to promote native succession. Protect remaining land from development 5źƩĻĭƷźƚƓƭ Ʒƚ ƷŷĻ {źƷĻ The Stallings Buffer Restoration Site is located approximately six miles southeast of Kinston, North Carolina (Figure 1) in northern Jones County. From Kinston travel east on US 70, turn right onto Wyse Fork Rd (SR 1002) and travel approximately 3.5 miles. The site is located to the east of Wyse Fork Rd between Webb Farm Rd (SR 1306) and Flat Swamp. The streams will be planted from top of bank to a max) The proposed amount of restored riparian buffer is 31.6 acres. The site will be planted with native hardwood trees.
