Good morning
This is my email notification as required by my stormwater permit NCG030011. The results from a stormwater sample
taken on 8/31/2021 at outfall 1 showed a COD result of 144mg/L. The permit benchmark is 120 mg/L. We received the
results from Pace Lab on 10/5/2021. If you have any questions please contact me.

Good afternoon,
The appropriate contact should be the ARO. I've copied an excerpt of the Tier I response from the newer permit
below. Email is fine (we do not have an electronic form developed for this notification yet). I've copied Stan Aiken, the
Regional Supervisor at the Asheville Regional Office, to direct you to the appropriate staff person for future
notifications. There are two additional ARO contacts copied here as well.

Based on the current guidance to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Department of Environmental Quality has
adjusted operations to protect the health and safety of the staff and public. Many employees are working remotely or
are on staggered shifts. To accommodate these staffing changes, all DEQ office locations are limiting public access to
appointments only. Please check with the appropriate staff before visiting our offices, as we may be able to handle your
requests by phone or email. We appreciate your patience as we continue to serve the public during this challenging
time.

Grover,
Ah, ok. That should be a pretty straight forward process, but I will leave it to the CO staff to explain. I have been out of
the loop on procedures there for a few months, so I don't want to mislead you. I have also cc's Susanne McCoy who
handles some of these types of notifications as well.

I think I understand the permit changes pretty well. I have reviewed thoroughly. I received the lab report for the
August sample on Monday and the COD is a little high. I have started the Tier I response and it requires that we notify
you guys and I don't know who to notify.
Thanks

Grover,
Yes, while I am still with the Department of Environmental Quality, I am no longer with the Division of Energy, Mineral,
and Land Resources.
I have cc'd the Central Office staff who could assist you best with explaining the permit changes.
I apologize for the confusion.
Isaiah

Jack told me that you have a different position and are no longer our stormwater contact. Is that true? If so who is. I
need to talk to them about the new permit requirement for COD.
