A preliminary review of your project indicates that before a State Stormwater permit can be issued the following additional information is needed: Please submit the Stormwater Application with an original signature of the applicant. Photocopied signatures cannot be accepted. 2. Please clarify total Impervious area. The Stormwater Application section IVA0(table) shows total impervious of 23,958, while the Wet Detention Basin Supplement shows 28,967. Please make necessary corrections. 3. Please revise the plans to show how will the roof area be collected and send to Wet Detention Basin or provide a note clearly describing collections of roof drains. 4. Please add the following: elevations of bottom of forebay and main pond, elevation of weir between forebay and main pond and side slopes to Wet Detention Section detail on sheet 3. V 5. Provide Outlet structure detail with all necessary detail including elevations and trash ./ rack. V 1Q. Clarify the Temporary Poll elevation. The Wet Detention Supplement shows elevation of 45.5, while the plans show 46. Please revise. 7. Revise the Top and Bottom elevations of vegetative shelf on the Wet Detention Supplement. These should be 6" above (44.50') and 6" bellow (43.50') the Permanent Pool elevation. 8. Please delineate drainage area to the Wet Detention pond. This can be done on separate 8 '/2 by 11 sheet. 9. The Wet Detention Supplement, SA/DA Data section, shows incorrect average depth calculated (using option 2 as proposed). The average pond depth per my calculations should be in range of approximately 3.05'. Based on this change, the required surface area, provided surface area(size of the pond), the provided volume calculations and orifice calculations are incorrect and should be revised accordingly. /10. Provide two copies of revised documents and plan sheets. Project Engineer PAMLICO ENGINEERING SERVICES, PLLC 128 ABBEY LANE WASHINGTON, NC 27889 252-945-2983 Family Dollar Development Colerain, North Carolina Storm Water Management Plan LOCATION: This site is located on NC HWY 45 just south of the NC 45 and NC 42 intersection in Colerain, Bertie County, North Carolina. The site is currently an open grass field with woods. DESCRIPTION: This site is currently an open field with some woods. The development is going to disturb approximately 1.2 acres EXISTING DRAINAGE PATTERNS: Surface runoff flows from the property into 2 existing ditches. One ditch is along the southern property line while the other is along the westerly boundary line. This water will ultimately drain into the Chowan River. The work that is to be preformed will not change the existing drainage pattern. There are no riparian buffers in this project area. PROPOSED PROJECT: This project will consist of stripping and clearing the site and grading the existing lots for construction of the building facilities. Any excess material from the site which is not used shall be hauled off to an approved waste site. All fill material to be placed on the site shall come from a permitted borrow pit. The wet pond is being constructed to control the 1.5" volume of water from the proposed site development area as well as the 1.05 ac of offsite drainage which will drain into the pond. Storm Water Management Runoff from the site shall he treated through grass swales and a wet detention pond. Because of the existing soil types and the high water table a wet pond was designed as the bmp to be used on this site. The ponds volume has been designed to treat the 1.5" rainfall and draw this runoff down over 2-5 days. Attached are the calculations giving the exact figures for all the volumes. The outlet structure has been designed to allow for the q 10 storm event to pass through the pond. Six locations, as indicated on the attached drawing, were tested on this date. Dynamic cone penetrometer test results were obtained at approximate one foot intervals from a depth of one foot to a depth of five feet below the existing site grades. The test results obtained are attached. The soil encountered today included approximately one foot of dark brown silty fine sand topsoil, underlain by yellow brown, tan brown and gray silty fine sandy clay. Groundwater was not encountered to the depths augered; however, the depth to the seasonal high water table was noted to occur at a depth of 2.0 to 3.0 feet below the existing site grades. The depth to the seasonal high water table observed at each test location is indicated on the attached pages. Per Ms. Marie Peedin, a soil permeability test would not be needed based on the observed depth to the seasonal high water table and the observed soil texture (silty fine sandy clay). The potential for soft soil from a depth of 1 to 3 feet exists at this site. If soft soil is encountered under the footing, slab or pavement areas, this soil should be removed and replaced with suitable material. Based on the dynamic cone penetrometer test results obtained today, the soil tested generally appears satisfactory for the soil design bearing pressure of 2000 psf. -Mr. Selden Taylor was informed of the test results and recommendations by written transmittal.
