John,
Below is to follow up with what we discussed yesterday on the phone regarding the subject project. I do want to
mention again that the application package overall was refreshingly good quality. I have also attached my quick
calculations and notes for your use.
Please provide the following additional information:
1. The Simple Method must be used to calculate the minimum required treatment volume for the 1.0" design
storm. See 3.3.1 of the BMP Manual.
2. Although an overflow is provided on the downstream end of the infiltration trench; a bypass at the inlet to the
infiltration trench must be provided" to bypass storms in excess of the 1.0" design storm.
3. A vegetated filter strip (VFS) was not provided for the bypassed storms from the infiltration trench, but is
required`.
"The bypass and/or VFS requirement for infiltration devices may be waived by increasing the size of the
infiltration device. Ple, se see 16.3.9 in the BMP Manual for specific sizing requirements.
Please note that this request for additional information is in response to a preliminary review. The requested
information should be received by this Office prior to February 7, 2011, or the application will be returned as
incomplete. The return of a project will necessitate resubmittal of all required items, including the application fee.
If you need additional time to submit the information, please mail, fax, or email your request for a time extension to the
Division at the address and fax number at the bottom of this letter. The request must indicate the date by which you
expect to submit the required information. The Division is allowed 90 days from the receipt of a completed application
to issue the permit.
The construction of any impervious surfaces, other than a construction entrance under an approved Sedimentation
Erosion Control Plan, is a violation of NCGS 143-215.1 and is subject to enforcement action pursuant to NCGS 143-

John,
I forgot to mention that the calculations need to sealed, signed, and dated. You only need to resubmit items that get
revised, not a whole new package.
Thanks.
