These services were performed in general accordance with our Master Services Agreement for Geotechnical and Engineering Services dated August 27, 2007 and our proposal acceptance for (Proposal No. 1351-20312-08) dated May 30, 2008. As requested by Mr. Bob Spalding of the Isaacs Group, S&ME is providing additional subsurface information for the above referenced site. We understand Mr. Spalding needs groundwater levels at the site to address questions the North Carolina Department of Environment and Water Quality has raised regarding design of a Rain Garden. As indicated in Section 5.2.5 of the Environmental Report, groundwater levels ranging between 30.15 to 37.75 feet were measured in five of the six on -site monitoring wells. The remaining well, which only extended to 24 feet, was measured dry. The geotechnical borings were also measured dry, however Section 3.3 of the Geotechnical SEME, INC`/ 9751 Southern Pine Blvd / Charlotte, NC 28273-5560 / p 704.523.4726 / f 704.525.3953/www.smeinc.com of Groundwater Levels Bojangles' Restaurant SWE Project No. 1351-08-132 Report reported water levels as shallow as 30 feet based on the water levels in the well. These measurements represent groundwater levels at the time of our exploration. Some seasonal variability in the groundwater level is typical, however should be limited to less than 5 or 10 feet. It should be noted that based on the subsurface conditions, "perched" water conditions could be present at the site following large rain events. S&ME, Inc. appreciates the opportunity to assist you during this phase of the project. If you should have any questions concerning this report or if we may be of further assistance, please contact us. Very truly yours, S&ME, Inc. Duane D. Bents, P.E. A minimum of 4" of clean sand must be provided between 4 media and washed stone. Corrected on Sheet C1.2 in the cross section view. We have requested that Geotech go out to gather this information on -site, however they Geotechnical Report Information does not contain required were not able to get out there before the deadline. We are still waiting on these results and 5 information for SHWT. would like to request additional time for this. Please delineate any wetlands on the site: or add note that 6 states there are none. Note included in the Narrative on Sheet C1.0 stating no wetlands. Show on plans how the roof area is draining and that it will not 7 drain to the "cell". Added Roof Drain linetype in the Legend on Sheet C3.0 for clarity. Per telephone conversation with Robert Patterson, Provide information for BMP Area in DA1 Information provided in the table of Part 111.9 of form SW U-101 and then provide information for Total Area of site in DA2. This was corrected on the new 8 to be corrected. Application enclosed in this submittal. To prevent clogging, construction sequence should require Bioretention cell not to be installed until its drainage area is 9 stabilized. Included this in the construction sequence - Note # 11 Per telephone conversation with Robert Patterson, Due to constraints on the site Robert Volume in excess of 1" treatment volume must bypass the cell would not require 30 vegatative filter strips if runoff WQv is increased 10%. Revised the 10 and be evenly distributed along a 30' vegetation filter. Prop. Rain Garden Calculations on Sheet C1.2 to show that the WQv was increased 18%. Please show proposed drainage easement connected to a 11 public R.O.W. around the bmp for access and Maintenance. Included Proposed Storm Easement on all sheets.
