to divert stormwater away from the biorettrition area untilit Is completed. Malritam erosion
control measures m place urb! bmretention area has been completed. 5pecal Protection
measures such as erosion control fabnc5 may be needed to protect wlnerable side slopes
from Isom during the construction process.
Step 3. Fantors or bai6oes should work from the sides 0 excavate the beretention
area to its appropriate design depth and dmuenvore. Excavating equipment should have
swops with adequate reads so they do not have to sit inside the fooiprrt of the
biorete bean area, Contractors should use a cell cortGucion approach m larger
Moretention bawls, whereby the basin 5 split into 500 to 1,000 51, ft. temporary cells
w+th a 10- 15 but earth bridge in between, so that cells an be excavated from the side.
Step 4. It may be necessary to nip the bottom soils to a depth of G to 12 inches to
promote greater infitriton.
Slap 5. Place geotable fabric on the sides of the Moretentmn area with a 6-inch ov&W
on the sides. Place tine appropriate depth of stone on the bottom, mstall the perforated
underdram pipe, pace stone above the underdram pipe, and add sand Layer between the
underdram aid the sell media layer.
Step G. Dsw the sot meda from an approved vendor, and store it on an adjacent
impervious area a plastic 51teeang. Appy the media in 12-inch Idts until the desired top
devabon of the bioreto tion area r achieved. Wait a few days to check for settlement, and
add additional media, as deeded, to achieve the design elevation. CONTRIBUTING
DRAINAGE AREA TO BIO-RMINHON POND TO BE STABILIZED PRIOR TO INSTALLING
BIORETEMION SOIL MEDIA.
Step 7. Install the vegeoson, and water acccrdmgly.
Step 8. Coordlate with Inspector and engineer to conduct the final ctnstructon
inspection.. Upon compretion of baetenten faciRy remove temporary erosion control
measures and complete final aabloa ac r of the project.
