Sean,
The Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources (DELMR) received a Stormwater Management Permit Application
for the subject project on May 17, 2017. A preliminary review of that information has determined that the application is
not complete. The following information is needed to continue the stormwater review.
For Wet pond A:
WET POND SPECIFIC MINIMUM DESIGN CRITERIA 5: FOREBAY
Forebay volume shall be 15 to 20 percent of the volume in the main pool. The application did not provide information
on the volume of the forebay. Please verify the volumes for the forebay and main pool.
n kVET POND SPECIFIC MINIMUM DESIGN CRITERIA 6: VEGETATED SHELF
The main pool shall be equipped with a vegetative shelf around its perimeter. The minimum width of the vegetated shelf
shall be six feet and the slope shall be no steeper than 6:1 (horizontal to vertical). On plan sheet C-911 and C-910 it
appears that the vegetative shelf is well below the permanent pool elevation. Please correct and resubmit plan sheet C-
911 and C-910.
7DND SPECIFIC MINIMUM DESIGN CRITERIA 7: DRAWDOWN TIME
The design volume shall draw down to the permanent pool level between two and five days. Although the calculations
page 2 of 2 indicate a 3.24 inch orifice, the plan, sheet C-910 and C-911, indicate a 6 inch PVC Pipe, calculations. Fora 6
inch orifices the Days to discharge = Water Quality Treatment Volume Provided 82,532 ft3 / the discharge rate 1.47
ft3/sec) / seconds /day 86,400 = .65 days
For wet pond B.
Information was not provided in the calculation submittal —so I could not complete my review of Wet Pond B.
The Minimum Design Criteria (MDC) can be found at:
15A NCAC 02H .1050 MDC for All Stormwater Control Measures
15A NCAC 02H .1053 MDC for Wet Ponds
The construction of any impervious surfaces, other than a construction entrance under an approved Sedimentation
Erosion Control Plan, is a violation of NCGS 143-215.1 and is subject to enforcement action pursuant to NCGS 143-
215.6A.
