On February 14, 2019 NCDEQ Land Quality staff inspected the subject facility for compliance with the State
Stormwater Post Construction Permit SW3160701. Based on the inspection and lack of maintenance and
possible petroleum product release/impact to the BMPs, the site is not in compliance. Please see the attached
inspection report. Also, as part of the response please evaluate operational changes that can be implemented to
prevent future BMP impacts.

Gentlemen,
I wanted to keep each of you in the loop on the Love's locations. We flew out to Love's corporate office in OK
last week and met with corporate environmental to discuss control measures to put in place to reduce tire dust
and other sediment and debris from entering these sand filters and bioretention basins. Some of those measures
include the use of filters and petroleum socks, educating the landscapers on how these stormwater control
measures function and the caution they need to take in how they use the blowers on the concrete/asphalt, and
possibly the addition of having a sweeper truck that comes through the parking lots occasionally to suck up the
tire dust and debris.
Salisbury - Our crew is starting on Monday, 8APR, to remove the build up of tire dust in the sand filters and dry
pond. I have ordered the catch basin filter (product made by New Pig) and will be installing that next week.
Newton - The plan of action will be to handle the smaller bioretention basin first (the circular basin near the
road that intersects the truck shop and main store). We believe that we can skim off the clay and tire dust that
has built up and install Bermuda sod according to the plans and it will take. We want to verify that this will
work prior to moving to the larger basin. Our hope is that we will not have to excavate the mulch/media and
has not become too compacted from the standing water. Also, I will be ordering petroleum socks to install
around the curb outlets to reduce the amount of sediment and tire dust that enters these basins.
I will keep you posted on the progress and provide pictures along the way. Please call me if you have any
