Land Planning Associates, Inc. has received the comments regarding our express
application review dated July 10, 2007. The following is an item by item response to
the comment.
Wet Detention Basins: P/anting Plan. The p/anting plan (sheet C->3) you provided does
not provide sufficient detai/. P/ease provide a p/anting plan with the correctly spe/%d
scientific (botanical name), the common name, size of the plant materia/, and quantity
of each. The spacing you indicated (5' x 5'J is too far apart. These p/ants are typical/y
planted on 78-24 inch centers. Yourp/an seemed to indicate plants throughout the wet
detention pond rather than just the vegetated shelf. Final/y, your note that the
"contractormay provide a/ternatives p/ants based on availabi/ity/cost/planting season"
makes it di~cu/t to know what would actually be implemented at the site. Please see
Chapter 6 of the NC DENR Storm water BMP Manua/for information on p/anting plans
particu/arty Section 6.4.7).
We have renumbered sheet C13 SWM Planting plan to sheet C16 and 16A.
Each pond has a separate planting. plan at a 1" = 20' scale based on Chapter 6 of NC
DENR Stormwater BMP manual. We have corrected the spelling and also called out
the size and the quantity of the plants at time of installation in a chart on the plans. We
have revised the plans to only plant on the vegetative shelf and removed the note to
contractors regarding alternate plants. Three copies of this plan are included with
this response letter.
