RE: Fast Track Application — Town of Burgaw
US Highway 117 Regional Pump Station & Force Main Project
Dear Mr. Hunkele:
On behalf of the Town of Burgaw, we are pleased to submit this permit
application for the referenced project which includes redirecting an existing
pump station (White Tractor Pump Station) from the existing gravity sewer
system into a new 8" gravity sewer. The new 8" gravity sewer will ultimately be
served by a new regional pump station (PS No.2) located behind State
Employees' Credit Union, along US117. The new gravity sewer and regional
pump station are to be permitted separately.
This permitting request will redirect White Tractor Pump Station flow by
constructing approximately 1,340 linear feet of 4" PVC sewer force main. The
existing White Tractor Pump Station pre -dates NCDEQ use of WQ-prefix
permits. Therefore, there is no existing permit on record. Please find enclosed the
following documentation:
• One (1) hard and One (1) digital copy of application form.
• One (1) hard and One (1) digital copy of 8.5 x 11 color USGS topographic
map
• One (1) hard and One (1) digital copy of 8.5 x 11 street map
• One (1) hard and One (1) digital copy of Project Narrative
• $480 check (permit fee)
Please let me know if you have questions or would like to discuss. Thanks for
243 Nih Bni Sr, ef your assistance on this project.

PROPOSED 4" FORCE MAIN

PROJECT DESIGN NARRATIVE
TO: Town of Burgaw
FROM: Jess Powell, PE
DATE: September 14, 2021
RE: US HWY 117 Regional Pump Station and Force Main Project
Fast Track Sewer Permit - NCDEQ
White Tractor Pump Station Force Main Redirect
M&C#: 04576-0012
The Town of Burgaw has identified the need for a new regional wastewater pump station (PS No.
2) and force main to serve an unsewered area, east of US Highway 117. In addition to the new
wastewater pump station, the project will include redirecting flow from the existing White Tractor
Pump Station to the new station via a combination of approximately 2,600 linear feet of 8" gravity
sewer and 4" sewer force main.
The project will involve the design and permitting of:
✓ 450 GPM wastewater pump station
✓ 7,700 linear feet of 8-inch PVC sewer force main
✓ 1,340 linear feet of 4-inch PVC sewer force main
✓ 1,220 linear feet of 8-inch PVC sanitary sewer
Note that the pump station, 8-inch sewer force main, and gravity sewer will be permitted
separately as a new permit.
White Tractor Pump Station was constructed prior to NCDEQ use of WQ-prefix permitting;
therefore, there is no record of an existing permit. White Tractor Pump Station currently
discharges through a 4" force main and has the following components:
✓ Wet well depth =16 ft
✓ Wet well diameter = 6 ft
✓ Wet well invert depth = 12.33 ft
✓ Pump model number #JSV3D60-E4 230/3
✓ Impeller diameter = 8.15 inches
✓ Impeller speed =1750 RPM
04576-0012 1 September 2021
US HWY 117 Regional Pump Station and Force Main
✓ Pumping Rate = 115 GPM
✓ Pump Head = 42 ft
✓ Horsepower = 4 HP
Please note that this project does not modify the existing pump station but simply re -directs the
flow through a new 4" PVC sewer force main to ultimately be served by a new regional pump
station (permitted separately). The redirect will alleviate flow on the existing collection system.
The requested permitting action is to approve the construction of approximately 1,340 linear feet
of 4" PVC force main to redirect flow from the existing White Tractor Pump Station to the new
regional pump station.
