PROJECT NARRATIVE
NORTH LANVALE LIFT STATION PUMP REPLACEMENT
BRUNSWICK REGIONAL WATER AND SEWER AUTHORITY
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project proposes to replace aging and undersized pumps at a lift station owned and operated by
Brunswick Regional H2GO called the North Lanvale Lift Station (H2GO Lift Station #9). This lift station
is located in the town of Leland in Brunswick County, North Carolina. Because the pumps proposed to be
installed have a higher flowrate than the pumps currently serving the lift station, the permitted flow for
this lift station needs to be increased.
The permit for this pump station was initially acquired in May 2002, as part of Permit No. W00016854.
Multiple modifications have been approved to this permit since its initial issuance, with the most recent
modification being accepted July 15, 2021. No modifications approved since the issuance of the original
permit have affected the conditions at this station — as such, the lift station is still permitted at its original
flow of 180 gallons per minute (GPM). However, because of the performance of the new pumps proposed
for installation, the lift station will now pump an increased flow. Accordingly, Brunswick Regional
H2GO is requesting to increase the North Lanvale Lift Station's permitted flow to 325 GPM. Note that
this lift station will utilize the existing force main already in place, so no new force main is being installed
as part of this project.
The table below compares the existing conditions to the proposed conditions upon permit modification
approval. No other operational changes are requested as a part of this permit modification. As stated
above, there will be no new flow or redirected flow associated with this project. The existing force main
will continue to be used to transmit flow downstream.
