Brad,
I wanted to let you know of two small losses into wetlands that we noticed yesterday during our ride
through. They were located at ~ STA 18+50 , Site 28 wetlands. Loss 1 was less than a five gallon
bucket but Loss 2 appeared slightly more than a 5 gallon bucket and was about 6”-8” deep in an ~ 10
sq. ft. area where sediment overtopped the wattle. These losses occurred as a result of the sump for
one of the slope drains getting mistakenly plowed full of material by crews clearing the road bed and
material from the roadbed subsequently washing down the drain and overwhelming the erosion
control measures . The losses were retrieved prior to the end of the day yesterday and material was
pulled back from the silt fence and mechanized clear area. The sumps were also dug back out. I
believe they area going with larger sumps (4’ x 4’) on the slope drains now to help settle out more
sediment.
Let me know if I can provide any additional information about this or anything else we looked at
yesterday.
Thanks!
Sean Farrell
