The City of Albemarle Long Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant submitted a Corrective Action Plan as required by section A. (8) of our NPDES Permit (NC0024244). Section A. (8) also requires the Permittee to submit a report summarizing the actions to achieve compliance with the final Cadmium, Copper, and Chromium VI limitations. Please consider this document as such. Samples were taken of the above mentioned pollutants as required by our NPDES Permit and our NCDWR approved Long Term Monitoring Plan. All samples collected for Cadmium and Chromium VI were at concentrations that were under the finals limits set to take place on September 1, 2025. 33% of the samples analyzed for Copper were at or below the final limitations set to become effective September 1, 2025. On October 30, 2020, The City of Albemarle Long Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated collection system entered a Special Order by Consent (SOC WQ S 19-0007) with NCDWR. This was due to the treatment plant's inability to build biosolids and waste sludge. This inability drastically reduces or eliminates the possibility of removing metals from the discharge. This SOC is set to expire on December 31, 2023. The City of Albemarle is currently evaluating options to better treat wastewater in an attempt to comply with the proposed future limits. The City of Albemarle also has recently submitted the renewal for The Long Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. In the renewal, the City has respectfully requested the Schedule of Compliance for Cadmium, Copper, and Chromium VI be modified in our next permit. If you have any comments and/or concerns regarding this issue please feel free to ask. Sincerely, 7
