✓❑No, this option is otherwise not feasible (explain)
No oil, grease, or other contaminants will be in the water; therefore, the water will not need to be treated except to have the sand settle out from water before discharging.
What is the feasibility of building a CLRS compared to direct surface water discharge?
The cost of building a CLRS is exorbitant and unnecessary in this instance, compared to a de -watering basin.
Surface or Subsurface Disposal System
❑ A surface or subsurface disposal system is technologically feasible (explain)
❑ A surface or subsurface disposal system is not technologically feasible (explain)
A de -watering basin is more economical.
❑ A surface or subsurface disposal system is otherwise feasible to implement (explain)
❑✓ A surface of subsurface disposal system is not otherwise feasible to implement (explain)
A de -watering basin is the most economical system to implement.
What is the feasibility of employing a subsurface of surface discharge as compared to a direct discharge to surface waters?
A de -watering basin is more economical and is an industry standard.
Direct Discharge to surface waters is the most environmentally sound alternative to all reasonably cost-effective options
for the wastewaters being considered?
n Yes
❑ No

Please find enclosed a NCG020000 Notice of Intent - General Permit Application and
documentation as described below for your review and approval:
• $100 Application Fee
• Annual Report to NC Secretary of State
• Completed Application
• Two sets of plans
• Calculations
• County Map
• Pump dewatering specs
The purpose of this project is to mine sand for use in construction projects. Entrance to the mining
area is by an existing soil road off of SR 1723 (Whitehall Road). This entrance will be improved to
allow dump trucks to enter and exit easier and more safely. A permit has been obtained by NCDOT.
A temporary Construction Entrance/Exit will be provided and maintained at this entrance for the
life of the mine. A dewatering basin will be constructed when needed. Water from the mine will be
pumped to the dewatering basin and released at non -erosive rates across the existing land into an
existing ditch at the property line. A mining permit application was sent to the state for approval
on September 23, 2021.
Should you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me.
